We’re pleased to introduce George and Darren who are running as fund raiser runners for Team BTS 1000 at Hilly Helmet this year. They are helping raise extra money for the event total via personal sponsorship as part of the team of 10 we’re looking to put together to do this this year, leaving 8 places still available from the original 10 offered.
We’re looking for each runner to raise £100 in sponsorship (plus gift aid) and in return we’ll refund each participants’ race entry fee and give each of them a technical t shirt or vest in the charity colours to wear on the night and keep. The goal of the team is to collectively help raise an extra £1000 towards the event total this year.
Local runner George loves the event after taking part last year and can’t wait for this years’ event. He runs regularly and took on the Bath half marathon in March and is keen to stay in shape to put in a good performance in August at our event.
Darren approaches things from quite a different angle. He found himself in hospital alongside event founder Robin-Mark Schols back in 2009 as they both underwent life saving surgery. They supported each other while recovering in hospital and have been firm friends ever since, despite living some 3 hours away from each other. Darren recently took up running after as he put it ‘being inspired’ by Robin-Marks’ running achievements. Having recently completed a couch to 5k running course, Darren was keen to be involved in this event and is looking forward to raising extra money to help the charity as a cause close to his own heart.
This opportunity is available to all entrants even if you have entered already. If you’d like to join them and help Team BTS 1000 please get in touch via robin@oranghelmetevents.org.uk and we’ll give you all the details.
