In addition to our event partners who predominantly help with funds to get our event on, there are groups, small businesses and individuals who are also extremely generous with their time, money and donations of prizes to our event. Without them we just could not hold it to the standard we would wish. This page is here to recognise them and record our grateful thanks for all the help that is crucial to the success of our event. Please scroll right through the page to see all our generous friends.
White Horse Pottery
For the third year running, Trevor at White Horse Pottery was commissioned to create our event prizes and unique event mementos which have proved so popular with our runners the last two years. Trevor runs Westburys' famous White Horse Pottery at Newtown, creating beautiful items that get exported around the world as well as sitting on many local shelves and tables.
We're really pleased to have this association with a local craftsman producing such nice items and hope you once again enjoy your sample of his work as your race memento.
Our Lovely Volunteers
Where would we be without our lovely volunteers? This event has been blessed with so many people wanting to get involved and all for the satisfaction of being part of a fund raise. Once again this year, we're thrilled to have an over subscription of people offering their services and many of them are coming back for their third time to help. We are truly grateful for the affinity you clearly have for our event, thank you all so much, we really couldn't do it without you. Please show your appreciation for their generosity with their time as you pass them on the night.
Devizes Running Club
It's a hat trick of support for our friends at Devizes Running Club with two race entries donated again this year. Additionally, they donated funds towards event equipment which we will be able to use at events in the future. Thank you Devizes RC!
Calne Running Club
Our chums at Calne are back with a donation of a race place for their Compton Bassett race once again this year. As the event has just passed, you'll have plenty of time to train if you're the lucky winner. It's the complete opposite of our event, fast and flat. Yes, there are no hills.
Our Local parkruns
One thing that has been great fun to do this year has been our 'Helmet on the road' tour of our five local parkruns. Being a 100% for charity event means we have no budget for publicity so have to be as creative as possible when spreading the word, so having this opportunity has really helped us spread the word about not only the event but the reason for the event and to raise the profile of Brain Tumour Support, the charity benefitting.
Our hearty thanks go to the event teams and participants at the parkruns at Bath Skyline, Chippenham, Melksham, Shepton Mallet and Southwick Country Park for their warm welcomes and to the many joining in and wearing helmets on the days we visited them. We're looking forward to welcoming all the parkrunners who signed up to Hilly Helmet.
Natural Dayz Soft Tissue Therapy
Late to the party but no less welcome, Emma from Natural Dayz weighed in with a donation of a soft tissue therapy prize for which we're grateful.
Emma is available on a Wednesday evening at PhysioJo, Trowbridge or on a mobile basis. "I am looking for clients who will support my training by allowing me to practice different techniques and help me reinforce my learning as I progress through the course. I will also be looking for volunteers for case studies in the near future!"
Dickies Workwear
Another surprise was a very generous donation of a large amount of items from local work wear manufacturers Dickies. Some of these items will be prizes but some will also be available for donations to our charity if anyone is interested. The donation was mainly T shirts but includes fleece jackets, and some other items like hats, belts, sweat tops, hoodies and shorts in various sizes. There will be a supply available to buy on the night for a donation, so please come and take a look at what we have on offer.
The Hair Company
Karen and Suzann have very kind donated a voucher to our Race Bib Raffle for the second year running. From a full on hair do to a short back and sides they'll take care of your hair by appointment at their shop in Westbury and we thank them for their support again this year.
Frome Running Club
We thank Frome Running Club for once again supporting our event with a fine turnout of members and a prize of an entry into their Mells Scenic 7 event to be held in September. It's exactly as the title suggests, around 7 miles of running in lovely scenery in Mells, just outside Frome and your bib number could net you this prize.
Martin Pearce - Resident Photographer
Martin has been yet another involved in Hilly Helmet since 2017. Martin is very generous with his time to his local running club Avon Valley Runners and his local parkrun as well as to our event and we're very appreciative of his continuing commitment to our event and letting everyone have such great pictures of their run for free. He is also responsible for keeping our twitter feed up to date. Martin is also a prolific fundraiser for the Childrens Hospice South West, even running London marathon in a shoe outfit to raise funds and awareness. Martin is back to take your photos again this year, so please keep your eye out for him and thank him for any of his images you're pleased with.
Chippenham Harriers
Our friends at Chippenham Harriers have once again donated a family entry of one adult entry into their 5k River Run event as well as an under 15 entry into the fun run on the same night. We're honoured that they've also put us into their club calendar as a club event this year.
Avon Valley Runners
Avon Valley Runners have donated an entry into the Wiltshire Half Marathon for the third year running and this year have added a place for their other flagship event Over the Hills to their donation. They're both very popular races and we are grateful for the clubs' support for our event via donating these prizes as well as a great turnout by the AVR membership in prospect once again this year.
Hayley Group (South West)
We were very lucky to have some used but usable hi viz bibs donated to us when we started this event up in 2017. As we were just starting, buying them was an expense we didn't want to take on at that time and it was good to have something for our volunteers to wear and stand out as helpers. Back in June, it was a real surprise to receive a delivery of 30 brand new ones from Richard at Hayley Group after he was tipped the nod by our friend George who thought it would be great to have new ones. They have since been branded with our livery, so look out for our helpers sporting them on the night. Big thanks to Richard for stepping in and providing something that we can use again and again in the future.
Crooked Tracks Wiltshire
The ink was barely dry on us announcing Hilly Helmet 1 and Ian Turnbull from Crooked Tracks Wiltshire was in touch offering a place in his event Beyond The Far Side as a prize to one of our runners. Sadly, the winner of the prize the first year was unable to take it up but it didn't dampen the enthusiasm and Crooked Tracks have remained as a prize giver for the third time this year. We thank them for their continued support.
Coach Joe Beer
We were thrilled when personal fitness coach and triathlete Joe supported our event last year with a donation of hydration products we used as raffle prizes. Joe is back supporting us with more prizes again this year (and maybe even running) and we really appreciate his support.
Redfish Events/Tracey Hyde
Tracey of Redfish Events has been a real star since our first year. Redfish have donated a race entry for three years now but in addition, we've been extremely grateful to have Traceys' graphic design skills to help us sharpen up our publicity and general image across our website and associated stationary. Thank you so much Tracey, your help is really appreciated.
Corsham Running Club
The Hazelbury Hurrah is a popular new race run by Corsham Running Club and they have donated places to that event and the Corsham 10k for the last two years and donated two race places for Hazelbury Hurrah again this year. As it was in advance of our event, we have already passed the two places donated on to two lucky winners who were picked at random from sign ups for this years Hilly Helmet. Corsham Running Club also have our event on their club championship for the second year and we thank them for their continued support.
The Treatment Rooms/Anna Gardiner
Anna has been another stalwart supporter of Hilly Helmet, donating massage vouchers each year we have run it, it's not all race places as prizes you know! Anna's a keen runner herself, look out for her on our hill this year. Thanks again for your support Anna, we look forward to seeing you next month.
Mel Ward-Nicholls
Mel is another three time donor of prizes as well as participant and we look forward to welcoming her back to run again this year. Mel provides sports massage locally and is once again donating a complimentary massage as a prize to our event.
Asda
We're grateful to Asda who will be providing our runners with a little something in their goody bags this year as their Trowbridge store got involved following our approach for support in this area.
Places Leisure
Leighton Recreation centre will once again be base camp for our event this year. Offering limited parking showering and changing facilities for our runners, we're grateful to have the shared use of their centre alongside regular users for the night. In addition, Places leisure have once again donated PT session vouchers to our raffle.
Westbury cricket club will be providing drinks from the bar, alcoholic and non alcoholic both before and after the run and weather permitting will also hold a bbq, so please bring some cash for that too.
Gary Daniell Sports Massage and Personal Training
Gary is another great supporter of Hilly Helmet and has been involved since 2017 donating massage vouchers as prizes. We met with Gary this year and discussed whether there was a way of making his generosity pay off a little more literally. After a short chat, Gary agreed to come along on event night and offer pre and post event massages (and taping where requested) with all the funds going to Brain Tumour Support. A truly generous action on his part and we hope you make it worth his while by taking advantage of his expertise.
